Pigments

“Colors are the deeds of light, deeds and suffering.” (J. W. v. Goethe)

Complex water treatment for pigments and coloring agents.

In principle, pigments – the insoluble colorants – can be classified in inorganic and organic compounds.

Inorganic pigments are based on oxides, hydrated oxides, sulfides, sulfates, carbonates and silicates of transition metals (heavy metals). Organic pigments, however, are divided into azo, polycyclic and diketopyrrolopyrrole pigments (DPP).

This classification results in different requirements for treatment of flushing water and process wastewater.

In inorganic production processes, the full range of chemical/physical water treatment is used for heavy metal detoxification.

In contrast, the organic pigments essentially require COD degradation and therefore also reduction of ecotoxicity parameters such as fish egg and daphnia toxicities, as well as luminescent bacteria inhibition.

As experts in the field of wastewater treatment, we plan and build your plants and optimize your inventory by multi-stage precipitation and flocculation, reduction, chromate and cyanide detoxification, and oxidation, also in combination with catalytic effects.

Robust technology and plant concepts allow a safe and stable production.
